Panama City, May 29 (CNA) Republic of China First Lady Wu Shu-jen donated US$20,000 in cash to a Panamanian children's hospital Tuesday on behalf of the ROC government and people.
Wu was briefed on the hospital's facilities and services and many child patients and their parents greeted her as she toured the hospital's various facilities.
Wu lauded Panama for having built such a well-appointed hospital for its youngsters. Noting that children are the hope of a country, Wu said governments and families around the world should pay more heed to the care and education of the younger generation.
Wu said her cash donation conveys the love and concern of the people of Taiwan for Panamanian children. "It also symbolizes the cordial friendship between our two countries," she added.
Wu further said she is hopeful that her visit will help boost ROC-Panamanian exchanges and cooperation in child education and welfare services.
