Taipei, April 19 (CNA) Republic of China President Chen Shui-bian received U.S. teenage model volunteer Danny Seo Thursday and urged the people of Taiwan to learn from Seo's example and "often mind other people's business."
Sparing no efforts to advocate voluntary service in Taiwan, Chen praised Seo, "the most influential figure in the 20s generation in the whole of the United States," for the idea set forth in his book of simply spending a short amount of time each day doing good deeds.
Chen said he is very glad that Seo came to Taiwan to share the "volunteer spirit" with the people of Taiwan. He noted that the ROC promulgated a law governing voluntary work early this year, adding that the 2001 international volunteer leaders summit and a seminar on voluntary service in Taiwan will also be held this year, showing Taiwan's connection with the international year of voluntary service.
