Taipei, April 7 (CNA) Republic of China President Chen Shui-bian presided over a high-level economic conference Saturday evening to discuss the island's economic situation and its future development.
Several points of consensus were reached at the conference, including measures to improve investment environment, attract more investment and resolve the unemployment issue.
Other topics discussed at the conference include the internationalization and liberalization of the finance and capital markets and the possible impacts on the domestic industries following Taiwan's entry into the World Trade Organization later this year.
