Taipei, March 29 (CNA) Republic of China President Chen Shui-bian led ranking government officials to welcome the official visit of Liberian President Charles Taylor Thursday.
At the ceremony held at the square in front of Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Taylor, who arrived in Taipei Wednesday night, was accorded with full military honors, including a 21-gun salute.
Chen said that Taylor's visit signifies the stability of the two countries' friendship. Taylor expressed his admiration for the peaceful transition of administration in Taiwan last year and added that he believes that the cooperative relations between the two countries will be further expanded on the existing basis in the future.
