Office of the President welcomes new US arms sale to Taiwan
Presidential Office Spokesperson Huang Chung-yen (黃重諺) expressed thanks, and welcomed the United States government’s decision to approve the sale of a new arms package to Taiwan on September 24 (US Eastern Standard Time) and notify the US Congress.
Spokesperson Huang said that having a strong national defense makes the people of Taiwan more confident in facing severe security challenges. It also increases our country’s ability to ensure peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and our region, and based on that foundation, continue to seek the healthy development of cross-strait relations.
Spokesperson Huang thanked the US government for making Taiwan's national defense and security an important issue, and fulfilling its commitments under the Taiwan Relations Act and the Six Assurances. At the same time, he said, we will continue to increase our investment in national defense to strengthen our defense industry and defense-related technological research and development, and maintain close communications and cooperation with the United States on various issues, including national defense and security.
