Presidential Office thanks Biden administration for announcing its seventh military sale to Taiwan
In response to the US government's announcement on December 6 (US EST) that Congress has been notified of a US$428 million military sale to Taiwan that includes standard and non-standard spare parts for various aircraft, Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang (張惇涵) stated that the Presidential Office thanks the US government for once again taking concrete steps to fulfill its security commitments to Taiwan in accordance with the Taiwan Relations Act and the Six Assurances.
Spokesperson Chang stated that this is the seventh military sale to Taiwan announced during the Biden administration and the sixth this year. The current sale will provide spare parts for Air Force F-16s, Indigenous Defense Fighters (IDF), and C-130 transport planes. Spokesperson Chang said that these parts will help our air force maintain well-equipped fighter jets, fulfill defensive combat and combat readiness training requirements, and raise our overall defense capabilities.
Spokesperson Chang affirmed that Taiwan will continue to demonstrate the determination and ability to defend itself, uphold its sovereignty, and safeguard national security. He added that Taiwan will also continue to cooperate with like-minded countries to ensure peace, stability, and prosperous development in the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific region.
