President Tsai meets Swaziland Queen Mother Ntombi Tfwala
President Tsai Ing-wen met on the afternoon of June 7 with a visiting delegation led by Her Majesty Queen Mother Ntombi Tfwala of the Kingdom of Swaziland. On behalf of the government and people of Taiwan, the president welcomed the delegation and expressed hope that the two countries' strong cooperation will be even further enhanced.
In remarks, President Tsai noted that the main purpose of the Queen Mother's visit was to undergo a health examination. The president extended her best wishes for the Queen Mother's good health.
The president pointed out that His Majesty King Mswati III made a special trip to Taiwan this May to attend her inauguration ceremony, while this visit marks the Queen Mother's eighth trip to Taiwan. These are clear indication, she said, of the close ties between Taiwan and Swaziland.
President Tsai then noted that visitors from Swaziland often come to Taiwan, and that Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs dispatched a delegation this April to Swaziland to take part in celebrations marking the 48th anniversary of Swaziland's independence and the 48th birthday of King Mswati III. The president expressed hope that Taiwan and Swaziland can continue to enhance their already strong cooperation, and that they can work together to improve the welfare of their people while reaching a new milestone in their bilateral relationship.
