Presidential Office statement on missile test by North Korea

In the early morning hours of November 29, North Korean authorities launched a ballistic missile that landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone. Our national security team immediately assessed the situation, developed response measures based on the latest information, and reported to the president.

The Republic of China (Taiwan) government strongly condemns the continuing military threats made by the North Korean authorities, disregarding international opposition and United Nations sanctions and undermining regional security and stability. President Tsai instructed government agencies to ensure that all possible response measures are at the ready, including continuing to monitor breaking events, keeping close contact with other countries, sharing the latest information, and ensuring stability in everyday lives as well as the stock and foreign exchange markets. At the same time, the government will fully comply with related UN Security Council resolutions, and rigorously implement all relevant sanctions to jointly maintain regional stability and order.
