President Tsai attends birthday banquet for Swaziland's King Mswati III, enjoys fireworks display
On the evening of April 19 local time (early morning, April 20, Taipei time), President Tsai Ing-wen attended a birthday banquet for Swaziland's King Mswati III at the Mavuso Trade Centre and enjoyed a fireworks display.
After a pastor started the banquet by wishing the king a long life, everyone enjoyed some singing and dance performances. The atmosphere was delightfully festive as Deputy Prime Minister (and Acting Prime Minister) Paul Dlamini then invited the guests to raise a toast to the king. After all in attendance sang Happy Birthday, the king invited President Tsai to join him in cutting the birthday cake.
The president then took in a fireworks display in front of the banquet hall together with the king, and made a happy birthday wish for the king and his country.
Among those in attendance were Swaziland's Queen Mother Ntombi Tfwala, the queens, and numerous Swazi government officials, while Taiwan was represented by, among others, National Security Council Secretary-General David T. Lee (李大維), Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu (吳釗燮), National Security Council Deputy Secretary-General Tsai Ming-yen (蔡明彥), and ROC Ambassador to Swaziland Thomas J.C. Chen (陳經銓).
