President Tsai delivers remarks aboard aircraft after departing for Paraguay and Belize
President Tsai Ing-wen departed on August 12 at 3:00 p.m. on state visits to Paraguay and Belize, two of Taiwan's allies in Latin America, under the theme "A Journey of Joint Celebration." In remarks delivered over the aircraft's public address system, the president explained the key objectives of the trip, and thanked the members of her delegation as well as the crew of the chartered China Airlines aircraft for their hard work. She also welcomed the traveling press corps to inform the world about the achievements of the trip through their news reports, and work together for Taiwan.
During this trip, she said, the delegation will fly 43,235 kilometers along a route through both the northern and southern hemispheres. Along the way, there will be stops in Los Angeles, Paraguay, Belize, and Houston. In all, she said, the delegation will visit four cities in three different countries.
President Tsai said that the most important objective of this trip is to attend the inauguration of Paraguay's President-elect Mario Abdo Benitez. After that, she said, the delegation will visit Belize. During stopovers in the United States, she said, they will also meet with many friends both old and new to exchange thoughts and opinions on the international situation.
President Tsai took the opportunity to thank everyone who helped make arrangements for the trip, and welcomed the members of the traveling press corps to bring the trip's achievements to a wider audience through their reporting.
