On the morning of October 2, President Tsai Ing-wen met with a delegation led by Matt Mead, Governor of the State of Wyoming (US). The president said she hopes to deepen exchanges with Wyoming at all levels, and create more opportunities for educational and industrial exchanges between Taiwan and Wyoming to inject greater innovation and vitality into industrial development on both sides.

In remarks, President Tsai stated that this trip marked Governor Mead's third visit to Taiwan. His efforts over the past eight years, she said, have helped Taiwan and Wyoming continue to upgrade economic and trade relations. During his trip last year, he witnessed the signing of a "Driver's License Reciprocity Agreement between Taiwan and Wyoming." This February, Governor Mead and the leaders of the Wyoming State Legislature also helped get the state legislature to pass a budget bill to post international trade representatives in Asia .

The president said she is delighted that Wyoming will set up its Asia Pacific Trade Office  in Taiwan soon, the first of its kind in 30 years, and is sure that bilateral relations will grow even closer. Taiwan is Wyoming's sixth-largest export market in Asia and 13th-largest globally. Based on our complementary economic and trade relations, the president hopes that we can further deepen exchanges on multiple levels.

President Tsai stated that Governor Mead's Economically Needed Diversity Options for Wyoming (ENDOW)  initiative is successfully driving growth in the state's technology, energy, agriculture, and blockchain industries. Taiwan has also focused on developing these industries, and nurtured a large pool of related experts and human resources. The president said she knows that education is important to Governor Mead, so she looks forward to creating more opportunities for educational and industrial exchanges between Taiwan and Wyoming to inject greater innovation and vitality into industrial development on both sides.

In closing, the president stated that during this trip Governor Mead will not only visit Taiwan's agricultural and livestock industries, but also head to Taichung to better understand our energy industry. The president is looking forward to more mutually beneficial opportunities for cooperation between Taiwan and Wyoming, and wished Governor Mead and his delegation a smooth and successful trip.
