Taiwan delegation arrives in Nauru for state visit

President Tsai Ing-wen's "Oceans of Democracy" delegation arrived at the Nauru International Airport on the evening of March 24 local time (afternoon of March 24 Taipei time) after a flight time of approximately five hours.

After President Tsai's aircraft came to a halt on the tarmac, ROC (Taiwan) Ambassador to Nauru Chow Chin-fa (周進發) and Nauru Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade Michael Aroi boarded the plane to welcome her. President Tsai waved to the welcoming crowd as ROC (Taiwan) Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) accompanied her off the aircraft to the bottom of the airstair, where she was greeted by Nauru Minister for Health, Education, Home Affairs, and Land Management Charmaine Scotty. President Tsai then accepted a welcoming wreath from a Nauruan woman and strolled past a female police honor guard while a Nauru police band performed a welcome hymn amidst a lively and festive atmosphere.
