While meeting with Danish Parliament Deputy Speaker Pia Kjærsgaard on the morning of October 17, President Tsai Ing-wen mentioned that we officially completed the construction of Taiwan's first offshore windfarm. The president stated that our goal is to have green energy account for 20% of our total energy mix by 2025. She also expressed hope that as Taiwan heads down the path of energy transition, we look forward to achieving even more via close cooperation with Denmark.
A translation of President Tsai's remarks follows:
It is a pleasure to welcome Deputy Speaker Kjærsgaard and her delegation to the Presidential Office. Deputy Speaker Kjærsgaard has visited Taiwan many times since her first trip 32 years ago. She is a very important friend of Taiwan, and we enjoy a profound rapport.
Over the past few years, exchanges between Taiwan and Denmark in both the public and private sectors are growing. In pursuing industrial development, we have forged deep partnerships.
For example, Danish companies are investing in our offshore wind sector and sharing their successful experiences. Last month, I received a delegation from Eksport Kredit Fonden, a key partner in the development of our wind energy industry.
Just last Wednesday, we officially completed the construction of Taiwan's first offshore windfarm. Our goal is to have green energy account for 20% of our total energy mix by 2025. As Taiwan heads down the path of energy transition, we look forward to achieving even more via close cooperation with Denmark.
In addition to green energy, the Danish government is developing other key sectors, including environmental protection, innovation and design, elderly care, and agrifoods. This is also well worth emulating. Looking ahead, we hope to continue to strengthen our partnership with Denmark in various fields, so that we can explore Asian markets together.
The support we enjoy from all of you is of great significance. I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for Deputy Speaker Kjærsgaard's longstanding support for Taiwan.
This past June, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) was invited to participate in the Copenhagen Democracy Summit, where he spoke of Taiwan's efforts to safeguard freedom and democratic values. Deputy Speaker Kjærsgaard received Minister Wu and personally gave him a tour of the Danish Parliament. These arrangements showed just how much the Parliament values Taiwan and the friendship we share.
In closing, I hope that during this visit by Deputy Speaker Kjærsgaard and her delegation, we will create even more opportunities for future cooperation.
