On the evening of January 21, President Tsai Ing-wen spoke by phone with US Senator Cory Gardner, thanked him for calling to congratulate her on her re-election, and expressed hope that the Taiwan-US partnership will grow even closer.
During the course of the call, Senator Gardner congratulated President Tsai on her re-election and expressed his dedication to growing the Taiwan-US relationship and supporting Taiwan. Senator Gardner mentioned that people understand the pressure and challenges that Taiwan faces. President Tsai thanked Senator Gardner once again for expressing his friendship and the support of the US Congress. President Tsai stated that she still remembered her transit stop in Senator Gardner's home state of Colorado during her Journey of Freedom, Democracy, and Sustainability last July.
