President Tsai receives congratulations from US Senator Cory Gardner via phone

On the evening of January 21, President Tsai Ing-wen spoke by phone with US Senator Cory Gardner, thanked him for calling to congratulate her on her re-election, and expressed hope that the Taiwan-US partnership will grow even closer.

During the course of the call, Senator Gardner congratulated President Tsai on her re-election and expressed his dedication to growing the Taiwan-US relationship and supporting Taiwan. Senator Gardner mentioned that people understand the pressure and challenges that Taiwan faces. He expressed hope that Taiwan's leadership can be further highlighted in the future and Taiwan-US cooperation on economic and security issues can continue, so that our mutually beneficial partnership can grow closer.

President Tsai thanked Senator Gardner once again for expressing his friendship and the support of the US Congress. President Tsai stated that Taiwan will face even more difficult challenges from China in the future, so the friendship and support of the United States will be very important. She then looked forward to an even closer relationship with Senator Gardner in the future.

President Tsai stated that she still remembered her transit stop in Senator Gardner's home state of Colorado during her Journey of Freedom, Democracy, and Sustainability last July. The visit was a very pleasant experience, she said, and she thanked him for his warm welcome. She expressed hope that she would be able to visit again in the future.
