Presidential Office thanks US government for sixth arms sale this year, continuing to deepen security partnership
The US government notified Congress on December 7 (US EST) of a Field Information Communications System arms sale to Taiwan. Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang (張惇涵) said today (December 8) that this is the sixth arms sale to Taiwan this year, and the eleventh during President Trump's administration. The Taiwan government once again thanked the US government for attaching great importance to assisting Taiwan in strengthening our self-defense capabilities.
Spokesperson Chang also said that this arms sale once again highlights the US government's substantive actions to fulfill its security commitments under the Taiwan Relations Act and Six Assurances, and will further strengthen the Taiwan military's strategic and defense needs.
Spokesperson Chang emphasized that Taiwan is determined to be a force for good in safeguarding peace, stability, prosperity, and development in the Indo-Pacific region through our strong national defense and the deepening of security partnerships with the United States and other like-minded countries.
