President Tsai meets semiconductor industry leaders from Taiwan and abroad

On the morning of September 6, President Tsai Ing-wen met with directors and supervisors from SEMI and the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA), as well as other top executives of semiconductor makers from home and abroad. The president stated that the Taiwan government will continue supporting semiconductor industry development, and turn Taiwan into the most attractive investment destination in the world.

In remarks delivered in English, President Tsai thanked the international semiconductor industry for its assistance over the past year. By cooperating with the TSIA, she said, the Taiwan government has successfully attracted a lot of foreign direct investment. She also expressed hope that Taiwan can further develop into a hub for integrating hardware and software.

The president mentioned that over the past few months, many semiconductor equipment and materials manufacturers have indicated their intention to invest in Taiwan, and this is precisely what the Taiwan government intended to achieve. She also said she was delighted to be meeting with top executives of semiconductor makers from home and abroad, and that the government will help Taiwanese semiconductor makers take their world-class competitive advantages to the next level.

After concluding her remarks, President Tsai exchanged views with the visitors on a wide range of topics including the establishment of a think tank, opportunities for Taiwan amidst the US-China trade war, how to attract foreign talent, and a training program for high-tech talent.
